As more people incorporate eco-friendly practices into their lives, FloraLife has taken big steps to advance sustainability. To reduce waste, the division has started to use post-consumer recycled (PCR) material containers. PCR materials are salvaged from plastic that would otherwise be discarded, then given a new life. At the end of the PCR container’s life, it can be recycled again to continue the chain. This type of packaging is a brilliant solution to reduce the need for virgin materials in plastics and ensures recyclability.
Since there is no guarantee the packaging will be recycled in end of life, FloraLife is focusing on using recycled content in the containers to ensure that some or all of the packaging is reused.
Choosing PCR packaging supports FloraLife’s 2025 Sustainability Plan which works toward a better future for both Smithers-Oasis and the environment. FloraLife’s plan focuses on implementing the reduce, re-use, recycle, and respect principles in five commitment areas: climate change, water stewardship, product portfolio, sustainable packaging, and stakeholder awareness.
