The Oriental Wedding Bouquet
Mr. Hiruta designed this oriental wedding bouquet, stating, "I'm a Japanese, so I wanted to make a wedding bouquet as one of Asians. I chose the OASIS® WEDDING BELLE® Bouquet Holder because the handle is easy to work with and the OASIS foam is big enough to hold the flowers stable. Needless to say, no water leakage from the OASIS foam is very important."

Usually, brides carry their bouquet by the handle, but Hiruta used the handle to fix the bouquet holder to the beautiful willow basket. The basket in this design was hand-made by Mr. Hiruta. Carrying the flower basket instead of the holder makes the bride more elegant and noble, doesn't it?

First, Hiruta made the solid foundation of the basket using No. 18 wires, and then fixed willow branches with gold wire. Mr. Hiruta stated, "It took a lot of time and effort to make this, but you can use it many times when you change the bouquet holder. Since the structure of the OASIS WEDDING BELLE Bouquet Holder is simple, I can make any kind of arrangement, based on many different ideas," Hiruta continued.

Using the WEDDING BELLE holder in his unique way, Mr. Hiruta explains how to make this elegant oriental bouquet, step by step, below.

Materials needed:

  • OASIS WEDDING BELLE Bouquet Holder (Large, Straight Handle)

  • OASIS Floral Adhesive (tube type)

  • Wires (No. 18)

  • Wires (Gold and thin)

  • Floral tape (green)

Flowers Used
  • Moth Orchid

  • Italian Berries

Foliage
  • String-of-Heart

  • Tillandsia

  • Common Periwinkle

  • Climbing Fig

How to put it together

  1. Make the frame of the basket using No. 18 long wires, which are covered with floral tape.
  1. Be careful not to show the seam and to make a smooth curve. Use thick branches at the bottom and thin branches at the top, in order to achieve good balance.
  1. Wire some willow branches with gold wire and complete the basket. Basket strength goes up when weaved and you need enough strength to hold the well-soaked OASIS foam.
  1. Form the design outline with the basket and greens. Finish it with the mixture of complementary elements, like gray-greens, different textures of foliage, and various shapes of leaves.
  1. Hold tightly, because moth orchids are rather heavy. Accents come from Italian berries. Express gradations by arranging moth orchids and Italian berries. The contrast between the sharpness of the willow branches and the soft feeling of the flowers make this wedding bouquet very romantic and lovely.
