Christmas Wreath
There's something hugely symbolic about a door wreath at Christmas time. A warm and welcoming sign on the front door, it shows passer's-by and visitors that the homeowner has embodied the spirit of Christmas in full.

Which is why traditional door rings are one of the most popular lines for the festive season and why NaylorBase® rings should be your first choice when making one up. Because, not only will they save you time, and therefore money, but give a strong, water retaining base to the design, so they'll last for ages.

In the special step-by-step, top British designer, Neil Whittaker, NDSF, AIFD shows how easy it is to make a stunningly stylish door ring.

Materials needed:

  • NaylorBase® Ring, 12"

  • Artificial Apples

  • Artificial Grapes

  • Kiwi Vine

  • 2" Willow Sticks

  • 1" Red & Gold Ribbon

Foliage
  • Blue Noble Spruce

  • Leylandi Conifer

  • Ilex Holly

  • Hypericum Berries

  • Brilliant Gold Spray Colour
    Gold Bullion Wire

How to put it together

  1. Shave the edges of the NaylorBase® Ring slightly on both the outer rim and inner rim. This will give you a much more gentle-rounded look when adding the foliage. Take lengths of conifer and cut the stems into an arrowhead, as this will 'hold' the stems more securely into the foam. Insert the conifer over leafing slightly, to both the outer and inner rim, to give a rich textured look. If it looks slightly uneven, you can trim to balance.
  1. Echo the conifer with groupings of blue spruce, which always adds a real luxurious feel to any Christmas design . . . holly and more conifer.
  1. Start working the trailing cascade into position. Neil has used artificial grapes and apples, giving length with Kiwi vine and ribbon. To position either - wire all the elements together and insert as one cluster, or use picks to position each element.
  1. The final flourish is added with a garland of 2" willow sticks, sprayed with Brilliant Gold OASIS® Spray Colour,* which are then mounted, daisy-chain style, on OASIS® Gold Bullion Wire,* interspersed with copper wire-strung Hypericum berries.
