Coming-Of-Age Day
In Japan, January 15 is the day to celebrate the maturity of boys and girls reaching the age of 20 years, thanks to their parents and all of the people around them. This ceremony has much historic background going back many years; however, the date of January 15 was officially chosen in 1948.
Today, many girls dress up in traditional KIMONO and KANZASHI (hair piece). We would like to present this idea of decorating KANZASHI with glued flowers, holding an oriental design bouquet on this happy day!
A. Bouquet Arrangement
This design was prepared with an image of a young lady, wearing KIMONO on her Coming-Of-Age Day, and holding this bouquet. The bamboo bouquet holder will be handy for holding this arrangement and, when ready, would become a room ornament when sitting on the bouquet stand.
B. Arrangement for Gift Wrapping
This elegant design is suitable as a gift wrapping for the Coming-Of-Age Day. The decorated chopstick can be worn in the hair as an ornament for a lady wearing KIMONO. In Japan, MIZUHIKI is used often for special celebrations and happy events. The number of strings used in MIZUHIKI for such occasions is always an odd number.
