Advanced Growing Media Technology - With the initial introduction of the OASIS® Rootcube® in the early 1970's, Smithers-Oasis revolutionized the vegetative plant propagation industry to where it is today. OASIS® Rootcubes, Horticubes®, and Wedge® foam products benefit the commercial grower as they are rigid, open-celled, water-absorbing foams, specifically engineered for optimal callus and root formation. Crops most commonly rooted in OASIS® medias are poinsettias, geraniums, spring flowering crops, foliage, hibiscus, herbs, lettuce, and woody ornamentals. The performance of these medias is due, in part, to the unique cell structure that closely resembles the cellular structure of the plant itself. The composition of the foams give density (weight) for holding power and capillary action for delivering water to inserted plant cuttings.

Grower's Product Quality Assurance - Hi-Q 500 K is a quality index developed by Smithers-Oasis in which all OASIS® Grower foam products must conform. It is a high-quality standard as a result of over 500,000 quality tests on the growing mediums manufactured over the past 10 years. The index covers a wide variety of different quality measurements, such as pH, saturation time, density, cell strength, EC, and packaging, just to name a few. This index guarantees the commercial grower the highest possible quality standards that result in dependable performance for all OASIS® Grower products.
While OASIS® Growing Mediums provide an excellent start for many crops, each greenhouse and its environment is different.
